Welcome to my blog,
HEBREW ROOTS IN SHALLOW SOIL
The purpose of this blog is to address what I believe is a false ideology, masked as a theology, known as the Hebrew Roots Movement, or HRM.
The Hebrew Roots movement is made up of various churches, groups, and internet societies all of which have varying degrees of beliefs that can be quite illusive and incongruent. As far as I know, there isn’t one centralized theology that these groups adhere to which makes it difficult to have a point of reference from which to discuss, debate or even learn.
The HRM is not a denomination, but more of a religious “genre”. I have found, that although its theology may not be established, there does seem to be a common thread of ideology which binds each member together. Generally, debates with those of the HRM end up being controversies over issues such as “Law vs. Grace”, or “Faith vs. Works”. Even though these are the important issues which will be addressed directly or indirectly, many of these are merely surface arguments.
Since there are probably hundreds of websites that specifically critique the Hebrew Roots Movement in detail, I wanted to go a different route. Instead of being specific, my approach is to address the HRM by breaking down the wide range of beliefs into general categories. My main objective is to go deeper and lay down a foundation of proper and proven Bible theology that I believe will reveal how the HRM is more of an ideology, despite many well intended, passionate and educated people that constitute its membership and following.
